Formatting Hard Drives

Hard Drive Formats

It is recommended to format your hard drive before using with Monument, but it is not required. This can be done on a computer or laptop following the articles below.

Supported File Systems:

• NTFS (Windows - recommended)
• FAT32 (Windows)
• Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (Mac - recommended)
• exFAT (Windows/Mac)
  
  

  Tip: Format to exFAT so that the hard drive can work on both Windows and Mac.<br>

  Note: Network attached storage (NAS) devices currently are not compatible with Monument.

  Note: Currently, APFS file systems are not supported.<br>
